Reason for Living Feb 22 2010
"He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." - Philippians 1:6
Most everyone is interested in discovering his or her purpose for living - the reason for being born and the reason for existing.
Well, I have good news. God has put that desire within you, for as your Creator, He has a purpose and plan for your life. Your role is to discover it and use the gifts and the talents and opportunities that God has given you to make the most of your life. God's ultimate purpose is that everyone would have a personal relationship with Him through faith in Jesus Christ. And everyone can - through faith. Then there is more good news. God's Word says, "I am confident...that He who began a good work in you will carry it to completion until the day of Jesus' coming."
What a promise! Once we put our life and trust in God, He then promises us He'll begin to reveal our life purpose to us. He'll also provide the power needed to see that we get it done. So, what are you waiting for? It's time to discover your reason for living and live it out!

Yes, report it NevermindGod also uses those who don't believe in him to achieve his purpose, for example Pharoah or Cyrus of Asyria.
I once heard it said that "if even one molecule in the universe was running around outside the control of God, then God would not be God".
Most certainly, there are things in my life and in the world that I don't understand. There are many that I don't like. But, who am I to judge God's plans?

Yes, report it NevermindI have never found a purpose. I think some of us are examples of what not to do, kind of like the town drunk at the Temperance meeting with Carry Nation and her bottle-breaking hatchet.

Yes, report it NevermindHal- your name means "home leader"; it's none of my business but there has to be someone (or perhaps many) who you love or who love you. I would look there for your purpose.

Yes, report it NevermindErik,
That was a great comment to Hal. We as normal people need to encourage each other more than what is done. Our country is down-trodden enough as it is with out us tearing each other down. Thanks and have a good evening

Yes, report it NevermindHal, I don't know you either. You may be being too hard on yourself with your statement "I'm an example of what not to do." We've all made wrong choices, but the key is to not dwell on them. Learn from your mistakes, move on. Think of them as a learning opportunitty and don't look back. And I'm sure your purpose is there, you sometimes just have to wait for it, and it will come. Hang in there.

Yes, report it NevermindHi Hal! If you are searching for your purpose, I have an optimistic suggestion -- if you're interested?
My suggestion is to turn off your TV and computer for 30 days, except for work of course. Don't watch TV or listen to the radio.
Live in the world but not "of" it...and in that moment, in that quiet, you may be able to hear God's call beyond the ordinary den of noise that we all have grown accustomed to.
But don't worry if you are having trouble grasping His plan for you. God knows us better than we do, and if we keep trying to have a relationship with Him, while turning our backs on sinning, Jesus will guide us to where we belong. :)
"Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus" (Phil l3:13-14).
Many blessings!
