Do You Need a Shepherd? Mar 13 2009
"The Lord is my Shepherd..." - Psalm 23
"The Lord is my shepherd: I shall not want." Trust Christ as your good shepherd. He promises to meet your needs.
"He maketh me to lie down in green pastures," He gives us rest and spiritual nourishment.
"He leadeth me beside the still waters."
He calms our troubled souls.
"He restoreth my soul:"
He renews our spirit when we spend time with Him.
"He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake,"
His Word teaches us how to live right.
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:"
He overcomes our fears, even of death.
"For thou art with me, thy rod and staff they comfort me."
He's always with us to discipline and encourage. This makes us feel secure.
"Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies,"
He gives us strength with those who aren't for us.
"Thou anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over."
He gives us an abundance of blessings.
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,"
Daily, He reminds us of His love and forgiveness.
"And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
He provides us eternal, abundant life.
If you are discouraged with the world and the difficulties you face; if you feel like a sheep without a shepherd, Jesus wants to be your good Shepherd. Every day is better when you know "The Lord is my Shepherd."

Yes, report it NevermindI look forward to reading your devotions each morning and find Grace in each and every one. In times of trouble and hardship the beauty and strength found in the 23rd psalm has never failed to calm me spiritually. Thank you for bringing this to mind today and for your reflections on each verse. I am so uplifted by this message and ready for the day ahead.

Yes, report it NevermindLinda, Your comment expresses my reaction perfectly. What a way to start the day with a devotion that addresses every issue we could face today. Our answer is not in the stock market, the political leader of the day, or our state of health. It's in the sufficiency of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Do you all know Him?
Tell someone about Him today.

Yes, report it NevermindI once heard a preacher call GOODNESS and MERCY the "Sheepdogs" of the Shepherd.
I liked that image of two big ole sheepdogs following this little sheep wherever he went.
